How do I book a float session?Click that “Book Now” button! Appointment time slots are shown and you can select an appointment based on your availability and the availability in the calendar. Feel free to contact us to book over the phone, online or via text message and we can book you in.
-
What do I need for a float session? If you wear contact lenses, a case for your contacts is a good idea as these should be removed prior to floating. You may also want a brush for after your shower but other than those items, we provide anything you may need (towels, soap, shampoo, conditioner, hair dryer etc.) Just show up ready to relax. No bathing suit needed - alot of our floaters prefer just their birthday suit!
-
How long are float sessions? We schedule 75 minutes per session. You arrive, shower before and after your float, float for 60 minutes and then get ready and dressed. We also have a small area to relax if you’d like to settle back into the world with a cup of tea or water after your float.
-
How should I prepare for my first float?• Avoid caffeine for 2-3 hours before your float. • Avoid shaving or waxing for at least 24 hours before floating. • Try to eat a light meal about 1 hour before your float - you don’t want to be full but being hungry might be distracting as well. • Make sure to use the washroom before your session so you are not distracted.
-
When should you NOT float?• IF you are an epileptic and your epilepsy is not under medical control. • IF you are under the influence of alcohol or drugs. • IF you have a recent tattoo (within 4-6 weeks), or large open skin wounds. • IF you've recently dyed your hair (within a week). It’s important to make sure you wait 5 days from your treatment and to wash hair with shampoo at least 3 times before floating. • Anyone getting keratin treatments to their hair should avoid saltwater, and that includes float tanks. • IF you cannot wash your hair, you may bring a waterproof (e.g. silicone) swim cap. Please be aware that no swim cap is perfect, and leaking is common around the ears and jaw. Even small amounts of float tank water contain amazing amounts of salt.

What if I’m claustrophobic?People with claustrophobia consistently report no problems floating. You control your environment and float cabins are extremely large with plenty of room. You can also open the pod door at any time and float with it open if you prefer. The space in the pod is much larger than you would think. You can also leave lights on inside the pod if you’d like. Many options to prevent you from feeling nothing but comfortable!
-
Can I float if I’m menstruating?Yes. Just do what you would do if going to a swimming pool.
-
Can I float if I'm pregnant?Absolutely! There will be a womb within a womb! Floating can relieve a lot of the aches and pains caused by pregnancy. If you have any questions or concerns please consult with your physician before coming in.
-
Can I drown if I fall asleep?Nope. Not even close! Some people fall asleep, but the water is so buoyant you stay afloat. It isn’t very easy to flip over onto your front in such shallow of water!
-
What if I do it wrong? There is absolutely no wrong way to float! You’re alone in a private room and no one can judge you. Just do what’s comfortable and let your body relax.
-
What if it upsets me?You can open the tank door and turn on the light at any time, no harm no foul. But truly, for most people, knowing that you’re completely in charge of your own experience is all the reassurance you need to have a good time.
-
Can I float on drugs? We will have to turn away any clients who are impaired or intoxicated. We appreciate your cooperation in this in keeping everyone safe!
-
Am I locked in?Absolutely not! There aren’t even locks on the pods. Your private float room (where you shower, change, and float) locks, but not the pod itself.
-
I have mobility issues, can I float?Yes, however, our pods are not necessarily accessible - if you need help getting into and out of them, we suggest having a friend come to help (our staff are unable to help assist getting in and out of the tank). There is a chair in the room if an aid would like to attend, and remain in the room whilst you enjoyed the float, and is close by to provide assistance when needed.
-
What if I can't swim? The water is no more than 12 inches deep so you can sit in the pod and touch the ground. The amount of Epsom Salts in the water also won’t allow you to sink, so if you are able to just lay back and relax, you can float.
-
What if I fall asleep?People fall asleep often! You will just float for the remainder of your session and we will play soothing sounds to let you know that your float will be coming to an end. These soothing sounds should wake you.
-
Will my skin get wrinkly? It will not! The high concentration of Epsom salt in the water does not allow the water to penetrate your skin. It does however make it very soft and smooth.
-
I just had a tattoo, can I still float? It is not a good idea to float after getting a recent tattoo. Salt and wounds don’t mix well. There is also a risk that the salt can cause discolouration to the tattoo. We strongly suggest you wait until you are healed (the usual 4-6 week waiting period or whatever your tattoo artist suggested.)
-
Do I have to stay in the whole time? Not at all. You can choose to leave at any point, however, people usually find that the 60 minutes in the pod goes by too quickly!
-
How clean is the water?Cleaner than you can imagine! Firstly, due to the salinity of the water, nothing organic can survive in the solution, but thats just the beginning. Between each float, the water is constantly filtered through a medical grade 10 micron filter and treated with UV light to sanitize the water. Chlorine is dosed automatically into the system to maintain a predetermined setpoint. The chemical balance of the salt water is constantly monitored through our Dreampod software, and our operators manually test the solution multiple times per day. We work alongside Vancouver Island Health Authority who also monitor our tanks, and together we ensure we're always providing clean and healthy experiences.
-
What if I get water in my eyes?We provide you with a face cloth that you may want to take into the pod with you just in case (if you have an itchy face or eye you might need it!). There is also a fresh water spray available.
-
Can I leave the lid open?Yes! The air in the room might be a bit cooler than the air in the pod with the lid closed. You may get a bit chilled but you can leave the lid open if you choose.
-
I have some cuts, can I still float?Yes, we provide petroleum jelly you can put over small cuts. We don’t recommend floating with larger deep cuts as the Epsom Salts could cause pain.
-
Can I float with a friend? Our Pods are very large for one person however, we don’t offer two people in one pod floats at this time. We can absolutely book two floats at the same time so you and your friend can come together, but you will be in separate rooms for your float. It is best to enjoy the pod solo as another person moving, breathing, or bumping into you during your float could really take away from your experience.
-
Can I float if I just dyed my hair? While there is no guarantee that the salt won’t strip some color from your hair, we recommend that you check if the water running through your hair in the shower at home is fully clear. If there is still some color coming out you should wait a couple of more days/showers.
-
Can I float if I just got a piercing?Like tattoos, this tends to not mix well! When your piercing is fresh it is still an open wound, which will cause some major discomfort. The area you have pierced will create a variation in the healing time, so floating can take between a couple weeks to a couple months depending on what you had done. For more information we suggest searching the healing times online or ask your body modification artist.
